Holy Week

Our Lent journey started on Ash Wednesday 17th of February and ended with Holy Week. It is the most important celebration in Christianity.

During this week, we have been relating the story of Jesus.

Ash Wednesday the teachers shared with the children how the dried palm leaves gotten from the church need to be returned to the church a week before Ash Wednesday and the priests would burn the dried palm leaves. The burnt ashes will be blessed and used during the Ash Wednesday celebration.

On Holy Thursday, the teachers shared with the children how Jesus had the Last Supper with His Disciples. On this day, Jesus also washed the feet of his disciples, setting an example for us to follow. Jesus taught us all about humility and serving others. He said, “ A new commandment I give you, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 13:34

On Good Friday, Jesus was crucified on the cross and died. Children sang songs like Jesus died on the cross, You and I, Jesus died on the cross….

On Holy Saturday, Jesus’ body was laid in the new tomb, in which no one had yet been buried.

On Easter Sunday, teachers shared the Easter story with the children, Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James and Salome, went to the tomb at dawn and found the stone which was at the entrance of the tomb, rolled away. They saw an angel who told them that, “Jesus is not here in the tomb, He has been raised.”

Children enjoyed singing easter songs like, The angel rolled the stone away, I am happy, Halellujah! The Lord is risen…. They also played games and made Easter Egg craft.

Halellujah! Jesus is risen from the dead!
