Orange Day The United Nations Unite to End Violence against women and girls, proclaimed the 25th of each month as the ‘Orange Day’. It is a day to raise awareness and to take action against violence that victimised women and girls. The bright and optimistic orange colour, represents a future free from violence. Marymount Kindergarten also proclaimed 25th October 2016 as the ‘Orange Day’ to educate children and raise awareness.
Uniquely Singapore The K1 children did a theme project on Singapore. The project focused on famous tourist spots like Underwater World, Bird Park, Zoo and Food Court. Each class was given a chance to choose the place that they would like to focus on. Faith Class chose ‘Underwater World’, Joy Class selected ‘Bird Park’ and Peace Class focused on the ‘Zoo.’ All the three classes also learnt about the different.
For our community projects this year, Marymount Kindergarten supported the Mitumba Project Collections by the Tana River Life Foundation Pte Ltd. The person in charge of this project, Mr Gabriel Teo came to the school on the 6th April to give a talk to the children during the morning assembly to let them have a better understanding of this project. Our Term 3 theme was on “Wild Animals”. Based on this theme, a visit to the Singapore Zoo was arranged. The field trip to the zoo exposed children to observe the various animals’ features, habitats and the food they consume. It was a reinforcement of what they have learnt in the classroom. Children were taken for a walk to look at the animals. During the walk, they watched Orang-utan’s swinging.
